2020 Stategic Plan

Last year, which feels like a lifetime ago, our board and staff formed a small committee to develop ideas for ROSE’s next Strategic Plan. Guided by Context for Action, we gathered feedback from partner organizations, and developed three possible scenarios to present to the entire board and staff.

Through several retreats, we worked together and came up with our priority for the next three to five years: Build as much housing as possible.

Since 1992, our organization has worked to improve neighborhood conditions through the development of affordable housing. We have rehabilitated run-down houses and apartments, built new homes, invested in school playgrounds, organized homeownership opportunities for minorities and people with low-income, and advocated for more affordable housing measures.

The 2020 Strategic Plan continues this mission. We were close to sharing our plan with you when Covid-19 swept the world. We switched our work and energy to keep families housed and stable by providing breakfast and lunch deliveries for kids, raising funds for emergency loans for families, and distributing information on other resources. We miss seeing our families and our communities together. We miss shaking hands, giving hugs, and being able to talk to you without the fear of spreading the virus. We have been sad not seeing teens come together for the Youth Empowerment Series this spring, cancelling our workshops, and postponing community gardening activities.

We also know that life keeps moving, and our goals are still there, waiting to be accomplished. We are doing our best to keep our goals moving forward to the extent that is possible, and being patient where it is not. We are working hard for our families today, and for the families waiting for an affordable home.
